Event Horizon by Antony Gormley – Public Installation

British artist Antony Gormley’s public art project is coming to Hong Kong in November, just a year after his exhibition at White Cube. Thirty one sculptures looking out into space will be displayed at both street level and building rooftops across Hong Kong’s Central and Western districts. This work originally started in 2007 and has made its rounds through different cities like Amsterdam, Sao Paulo etc.

All the 31 sculptures are copies of the artist’s body, 27 of them are made of fiberglass and are arranged on rooftops, the other four, made of cast iron will be installed at ground level. According to Gromley’s, “This installation engages the desire to look up and look again at familiar places in a new way”. and refers this series of sculptures as a form of “acupuncture” for the city.
