Modu Magazine: A Tale of Urban China

2015 Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism \ Architecture

The 2015 Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture (2015 UABB), is the world’s only biennale dedicated to the themes of urbanism and urbanization. 2015 UABB will be set around the central theme “Re-Living The City”, enabling the participants to explore how the reimagining, repurposing, and remaking of our existing urban spaces and how architecture can improve the way people experience cities.

The biennale will open in Shenzhen on December 4, 2015, and will take over the former Dacheng Flour Factory in Shekou, while the Xipu New Residence in Longgang District will act as an affiliated venue. The Curatorial Team (gathering 7 curators and 2 sub-venue curator) propose to redesign and repurpose the existing buildings of the factory without demolition to create a series of new public spaces, converting the abandoned factory buildings into a multifaceted exhibition venue. The event will focus on site-specific installations, interactive videos, and other methods of presenting architecture and urbanism at work and in reality, pay more attention to the sense of participation and interaction.
