Large-scale Redevelopment of Shanghai’s main road Pudong Avenue

Pudong New Area’s government has launched the first phase of the redevelopment of Pudong Avenue, closed to traffic from November 29, until September 2019. This main road will be transformed into a “triple level” road including a fast road with six to eight lanes, a tunnel with four lanes, and an underground part of Metro Line 14 which will service five districts in total.

How has the government planned to manage and regulate traffic in the area during the construction works? Only two five meter wide lanes remain open to provide access to residents and workers while the other road users (especially users of about thirty bus lanes) have to take deviations, modifying their usual urban routes.
