Modu Magazine: A Tale of Urban China

Ford Rewards Two Chinese Apps on Urban Mobility

In a report relayed by Chinese news agency Xinhua, the American automobile company Ford has revealed the winners of two recent public innovation competitions on smart mobility. The prize-winners, located in the cities of Shanghai and Chongqing, presented new smart phones apps that help users navigate urban transportation with greater ease and expediency.

In Shanghai, the program Urban Commuter allows urban dwellers to find a parking space while in Chongqing, the application Mobility Integration combines different modes of transportation in order to determine the quickest route. Ford posits that within over-populated metropolises, future modes of transportation will have to be better connected to one another to remain efficient. In this regard, China appears to offer the perfect laboratory to begin developing and expanding these new tools.
