Beijing Siming Cooperation Program (BSCP) 2018 – Call for Proposals

Beijing Siming (Historical Town, Traditional Business, Celebrities, Sceneries Preservation) Cooperation Program (BSCP) is a public education program, which focuses on cultural heritage preservation. It aims at attracting more people into bottom-up activities promoting ancient urban heritage.

Before BSCP, the protection of historical cities and cultural heritage was generally considered to belong to the realm of experts, and all the government’s funds and social resources were going to professional organizations. Yet, despite the lack of support, more and more ordinary people spontaneously started take part in the preservation of their cultural heritage. BSCP is the first program in China that values such spontaneous attempts and supports them. It aims at gathering organizations to strengthen the protection force, connecting social resources and initiating public recruitment to supply various resources, forming an incubation of social organizations, as well as promoting public education and social participation.

Last year, the plan raised 180,000 Yuan, which were used to fund a total of 42 teams and more than 120 activities. The latter were very diverse and included: courses, lectures, salons, forums, exhibitions, CityWalk, oral history, VR experience, community building, urban research, photography, literary and artistic creation, manual courses, etc. They attracted a direct audience of 8000 people and an indirect audience of more than 100,000 people.

Now the next step is recruiting. Candidates could be a practical teams, institutions, or even individuals with interesting ideas and projects regarding cultural heritage preservation, who are willing to share their knowledge with the public. You can get funds according to the content and scale of your project (the funding limit for each project is 10,000 Yuan) and support for venues resources, promotion and communication, as well as training of activities planning.
