Erected in the centre of Chengdu, the building, whose design was inspired by the works of the famous local poet Du Fu (杜甫, 712-770), has been adapted to its local environment. The visible structural diagonals are designed to resist earthquakes and the many openings in the building allow optimal distribution of natural light. Organized around a central area, this multifunctional building creates a new urban centre, open to the rest of the city.
