For this large scale project, its Korean architects decided to research some fundamental concepts that can be observed in Chinese architectural tradition. These include, for example, the circular shape of the building, following the ideas of the traditional community buildings, the “Tulou”, and the grey stone façades, typical of Beijing. This project also focused on the balance between insulation from the outside world on the interior, and openness to the exterior.
