The China Central Academy of Fine Art museum’s appearance marries grey celadon slates, a traditional element of Chinese courtyards, with a modern curved style of architecture. Experienced in designing museums, Japanese architect Arata Isozaki designed the internal structure without any column. In that manner it suits the various functions of the Museum without disrupting aesthetics or harmony of the building. Particular attention has been paid to the lighting, especially in the permanent exhibition hall, where an advanced technique is used in order to avoid any damage potentially made by ultraviolet light.
