Yuanxiang Lake, whose shape looks like the character “sea” (海), is the largest of 18 lakes in Jiading District. It is intended as the centre of Jiading New Town. Business and commercial areas will be positioned on its North and leisure areas on its South. The islands in the lake will constitute the central part of the new town for both residents and visitors.
